Where We Work: South Korea

While South Korea ranks third among the countries examined in our Global Youth Wellbeing Index with CSIS and Hilton Worldwide, the country, industry, and young people confront a significant skills mismatch.

Youth with high school and college education are vying for the same jobs, and they lack in-demand industry-specific skills. To prepare underserved youth here, including young people with disabilities, to win the jobs employers are looking to fill, our EquipYouth initiative emphasized vocational and soft skilling training. To meet similar needs, Unlocking the Potential of Asian Youth connected young people in homeless shelters in and around Seoul with life skills training, education, and career support. In both cases, our initiatives prepared local partners and their staff with training that enriched their work and performance.
