SUMMARY
Support the development of partnerships with global corporations engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that are linked to IYF’s strategic priorities. Provide support for the expansion of initiatives within IYF’s programmatic Centers (Education, Employment, Health, Leadership and Engagement). Work closely with CSR departments and global corporations and foundations, as well as members of IYF’s Global Partner Network to develop programs to benefit children and youth worldwide. As time and workload permit, support business development efforts with government official development agencies and multilateral institutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the Vice President and Directors within the Business Development (BD) Department in the advancement of strategic goals and priorities. Assist in the periodic review and refinement of goals, strategies and priorities.
  2. Work in close coordination with staff of Centers (Education, Employment, Health, Leadership and Engagement) and Departments (Strategic Planning and Outreach and Finance, Administration & IT) to ensure the successful delivery of business development activities.
  3. Manage the conceptualization and development of new programs and partnerships, as well as the enhancement and expansion of ongoing programs. Produce program development documents working closely with program staff throughout the organization and with partner organizations.
  4. Manage program development activities with donors (CSR units within global corporations, multilateral institutions, foundations, government overseas development agencies); member organizations within IYF’s Global Partner Network; and other strategic partners (e.g., major youth serving organizations, technical experts in priority thematic areas).
  5. Identify potential new opportunities and donors; cultivate and maintain relationships; and develop program and partnership ideas and options.
  6. Conduct field assessments leading to the development of new programs and partnerships.
  7. Prepare outcome logic models, logical framework matrices, briefing papers, concept papers, proposals and budgets for planning and funding of new programs.
  8. Coordinate BD activities and priorities with the Communications Department (e.g., web site, outreach, participation in conferences, marketing and strategic positioning activities).

COMPETENCY

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Analytical ability – identifies and establishes priorities; designs work flows and procedures

Problem Solving – identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, demonstrates creativity and flexibility in addressing problems, works well in group problem solving situations.

Project Management – develops project plans, coordinate projects, and communicates changes and progress.

Technical Skills – proposal development, writing and editing; three years of which are specialized writing experience targeting resource development with global corporations, government overseas development agencies, multilateral institutions and foundations; and strong project management, planning and budgeting skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree in a field relevant to IYF’s mission and programs (social science, international development, public policy) is required.

Minimum of five years experience in fundraising, program development and/or program management in the international development sector. Familiarity with corporate social responsibility (CSR) field, issues and practices desired. Private sector management experience can be substituted.

Understanding and knowledge of the non-government youth sector and issues affecting young people and youth services in an international setting.

Knowledge or experience in children and youth development work preferred and/or background in education, employability, health, or youth leadership development. International experience desired.

Ability to work in a dynamic team, as well as an ability to independently and effectively manage tasks.

Experience and ability to advocate and liaise with a variety of donors.
Strong interpersonal skills appropriate for operating effectively in a multicultural, international environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skill in English is required. Ability to conduct business conversation in a second language is preferred.

Experienced in the use of the full suite of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
