Knowing there aren’t nearly enough formal jobs for the young people entering the labor market in India, we’ve worked to help youth create their own opportunities. In partnership with MasterCard and the Community Collective Society for Integrated Development (CCFID), we led the Young Entrepreneurs initiative in support of young men and women 15 to 29 years old in Delhi and Mumbai. Among other activities, Young Entrepreneurs offered participants business and life skills training, access to financial capital through a revolving loan fund, ongoing technical assistance, and links to mentors in the business community. Making a deep impact in individual lives, the initiative has helped young people like Sandeep see their monthly income increase five-fold.
