Amanda Ortega

Amanda came to IYF in 2014 as the Program Coordinator for Latin American & the Caribbean. Prior to joining IYF, Amanda worked in the microfinance sector at the Microcredit Summit Campaign and FINCA International. She received her M.A. in International Development from American University’s School of International Service where she focused on youth development in Latin America. During her studies, she interned at La Fundacion Futuro Latinoamericano in Ecuador, as well as designed an evaluation framework and implemented its pilot for a youth employability project in Honduras with the Education Development Center. Her interest in youth development spans from her year teaching in rural Thailand after receiving her B.A. in Anthropology from Hofstra University. Amanda is originally from Spain, is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Thai.
